WW - Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Submariner, ref 1680, circa 1977, 42mm including crown guards x 47mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back Oyster case faceted lugs and a bi-directional diving bezel, original insert with light fading to a brownish hue, stainless steel Oyster bracelet with tuna can style clasp and fold over safety as well as diver's extension, original black dial with white printed text and lume plot indices, date aperture at 3, 26J cal 1570, s#5263676, triple signed with signed clasp, bracelet ref 9315 with 380 end pieces, inside back ref 1680. This is the one of the best surviving examples of a 1680 that this cataloger has ever seen with an unpolished case that has incredibly sharp finishing details just not seen on vintage Rolex very often.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, very light spotting on rotor edge; flawless dial; excellent-plus matching Mercedes hands with light surface spotting to polished finish; unpolished case shows little wear, lug chamfers are crisp and sharp in appearance, bezel is sharp to the touch, light dings on the backs of the lugs from being worn on a bracelet as well as a dent to the top right lug and side of bottom right lug; unpolished bracelet shows very little wear, very light stretch; original Rolex signed crown shows light wear, good threads; good plastic crystal; resealed for auction.
